The Eagles managed to grind out a victory against a tough Swinton Lions outfit, whilst Wakefield put fifty past a winless York Knights in a nine-try spectacle, with Lachlan Walmsley touching down for four on the day and reaching a total of 100 for his career.

Widnes also continued their unbeaten start with a convincing home win against Halifax Panthers. ‘Fax had built up a 4-14 lead in the early stages, but a sensational second half performance would see the Vikings go on to score 36 unanswered points, including a brace from captain Jack Owens to register a fourth consecutive win.

In Cumbria, Barrow overcame a resilient Dewsbury side to make it back-to-back home wins.

A nervy ending would then unfold - another tense finish for Barrow three weeks on the bounce - as Ryan Johnston slotted over the match-winning drop goal to seal the victory.

Cumbria’s second game of Sunday afternoon would see Batley Bulldogs claim their first win of the season in style.

Mark Moxon’s men led the entire match in what was a fantastic team performance to record their first two points on the road.
